    Vancouver Fact:

    Strathcona boomed between 1886 and 1920 due to the railway terminus situated in it. Earlier referred to as the East End, Strathcona adopted it's name from Lord Strathcona (Sir Donald A. Smith), who drove the last spike completing the first transcontinental railway.
